Punchers Mark is a graphic novel chronicling the greatest bare-knuckle fighters in boxing history written in honor of the late Bert Randolph Sugar.
Brooklyn, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/23/2013 -- Punchers Mark is a 300+ page graphic novel that honors the history of bare-knuckle boxing. This labor of love was created by a great friendship between the late Bert Randolph Sugar and Jean Borgella. The graphic novel chronicles the exploits of great bare-knuckle fighters of olde. Long forgotten, their contributions to Boxing, MMA and any major spectator sport should not be taken for granted.
Many of these fighters came from humble beginnings, but their courage in the ring, shaped the idea of what an ideal athlete was, while laying the groundwork for social change and bringing hope to marginalized groups that had little to hope for.
Bert Sugar was a renowned boxing and sport historian. In many of his writings, he recognized the courage and the significance of many of these fighters contributions not only in the ring but their overall impact for changing the perspective of people in the majority and in power.
By supporting the creation of this novel, contributors will help connect this current generation not only to these great pioneers, they help Jean Borgella personally fulfill a promise me made to his dear friend Bert, which was to make sure these stories are told and to continue his legacy.
This campaign will receive all funds raised even if it does not reach its goal. Funding duration: August 25, 2013 - October 15, 2013 (11:59pm PT).
