Barclays PLC (NYSE:BCS) reported that it lowered its bonus pool by almost 14% in 2012, mirroring the bank's persistent attempts to clear out extra costs.
The British bank launched a huge amount of data on pay showing why and how it had lowered its bonus pool from GBP2.15 billion in 2011 to GBP1.85 billion in 2012.
Amid other things, the bank revealed that 428 individuals were paid above GBP1 million past year. Five people got home over GBP5 million in 2012, which was lower from 17 the year ago. The bank reported that it lowered variable compensation in an attempt to pay for different scandals and a multi-million deal with controllers over interest-rate rigging.
