New York, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/27/2013 -- First Solar, Inc. (NASDAQ:FSLR) declared financial results for the quarter and year ended Dec. 31, 2012. Net sales were a record $1.1 billion in the quarter, an upsurge of $236 million from the third quarter of 2012 and $415 million from the fourth quarter of 2011. The rise in net sales from the third quarter of 2012 was mainly due to augmented revenue credit for the Topaz project, and a rise in third-party module sales. Net sales for 2012 were $3.4 billion, up 22% from 2011.

Net sales for the fourth quarter were $2.25 billion, a 15.4% surge compared to the last year. Earnings per diluted share for the fourth quarter were $1.01, a rise of 26.3% compared to the $0.80 earnings per diluted share reported for the fourth quarter 2011.

In the mid-day, Dollar Tree, Inc. (NASDAQ:DLTR) reported the gain of +12.17% to $46.05 with the total traded volume of 4.02 million shares. DLTR has earnings per share of $2.49.
