Motorola to Introduce Three New Droid Devices to Verizon Reports RescueRoot.com

An unlocked 4G LTE phone with unlimited data is not a bad deal at all

San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/20/2012 -- Motorola announced a trio of new Droid RAZR smartphones being released for Verizon Wireless in the United States. While average users will be on the lookout for the Verizon subsidized versions, developers will have another option available to them.

Motorola has the Droid RAZR M Developer Edition available for a price of $549.99. The Developer Edition of the phone is not tied down to a two-year contract. The unit is for users and developers who want to tweak or modify the handset.

The difference between developer phones is that the developer device comes with an unlocked boot loader, which makes it easier to root the device and install ROMs on the phone.

These devices will likely have limited warranties as the company expects users to break them anyway.

There is little reason beyond breaking warranties to buy a developer edition of any smartphone. The only other reason there can be is to upgrade a phone without going through a carrier.

Another advantage of an unlocked developer device is that it may be upgraded to the latest 4.1 Jelly Bean Android software.

By upgrading from Verizon, users will have to switch to the new

Share Everything’ plans, which will result in higher prices for individual users and less data. With the developer device, they can keep the same plan they had before and get the device. This also means they can keep the same data plan.

This way, buying another $600 device does not seem like such a bad idea. The device will have an unlimited 4G LTE data, which is certainly quite a catch.
