After three-year transition period, store owners ready to make front their own
San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/20/2013 -- There has been a temporary white and purple banner which currently cover the longstanding “Judy's Quilt 'N Sew” sign that is marked for locally-flavored destination business on the south State Street in Hampshire since 1996.
The banner has the words “Stitching on State” prominently displayed, and is only a placeholder until Mike and Elaine Thomas receive their personal sign. Once done, it will complete a transition three years in the making.
The move was fueled by a passion for sewing, and promoted the couple to purchase Judy's Quilt 'N Sew from Jim and Judy Magura three years ago. The couple has since spent three years updating merchandise and changing the entire look of the store.
Now the new owners are taking ownership of their business by formally unveiling their new Stitching on the State for more than 100 customers in their grand reopening that commenced in early February.
"We wanted to really brand it as our store," Mike Thomas said. "It's letting people know that we are the owners and that we are here to stay. This is our business now."
Over the last 16 years, quilter aficionados and newcomers alike, as well as sewers of all types from around the region have frequented the Hampshire store when in search for high-quality products. Even after ownership changed hands, the customers remained faithful to the craft, rather than to owner names.
Now that the store, as well as owners, have a new name, customers must swallow any concern they have and remember the business will continue to deliver the expertise and products they desire .
Stitching on State still offers the same high-quality Pfaff and Bernina brand sewing machines.
Customers will still be able to frequent the store for the best fabrics, many of which are not available at many of the bargain-brand stores.
