The company, on Feb. 27, reported fourth quarter net income of $220.51 million or $1.19 per share, as compared to a net loss of $112.06 million or $0.62 per share in the prior-year quarter. Adjusted net income for the quarter was $191.80 million or $1.04 per share. Total operating revenues for the quarter soared to $688.73 million from $114.11 million in the same quarter last year. Analysts expected the company to report earnings of $0.87 per share on revenue of $655.12 million.

Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) shares gained 2.55% to $3.62. The company’s CEO, Steven Elop, recently outlined what is being described as a coherent vision and strategy for addressing the challenges in connecting the next billion users in this morning’s keynote session at MWC 2013.

Additionally, the company this week is said to be reportedly working on a waterproof phone with an advanced waterproofing technology. The technology, which was developed by P2i, protects phones on a microscopic level, coating components in a waterproof coating. That allows greater versatility and could give Nokia an advantage going forward.

LDK Solar Co., Ltd (ADR) (NYSE:LDK) shares jumped 2.53% and closed at $1.62 in the last trading session. The company, on Feb. 28, announced the sale of 5,000,000 newly issued ordinary shares of LDK Solar to Fulai Investments Limited, at a purchase price of $1.83 per share with an aggregate purchase price of US$9,150,000, thereby completing the first portion of the transaction contemplated in its share purchase agreement dated January 21, 2013 with Fulai Investments Limited.
