Cell Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:CTIC) shares declined 2.90% to $1.34 in the previous trading session. The company, on Jan. 31, announced that the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG) informed CTIC that an independent Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) recommended continuation of the GOG-0212 Phase 3 clinical trial of OPAXIOTM (paclitaxel poliglumex) as maintenance therapy in ovarian cancer with no changes following a planned interim survival analysis.

CTIC remains blinded to the interim analysis results. GOG-0212 is the largest maintenance study in this setting, having enrolled approximately 1,000 of the planned 1,100 patients. Enrollment is expected to be completed in 2013.

ACADIA Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ:ACAD) shares jumped 1.66% and closed at $6.13. Cowen initiated coverage on shares of ACADIA in a research note released on Jan. 28. The firm issued an outperform rating on the stock.

Additionally, the company, last month, announced the election of Stephen R. Biggar, M.D., Ph.D., to its board of directors. Dr. Biggar will fill a vacancy on ACADIA’s board and serve as a Class II director. The terms of the Class II directors will expire at the annual meeting of stockholders in 2015.
