Obama Releases Compromise on Contraception Coverage for Employee’s of Religious Institutions
San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/27/2012 -- Obama has created quite the stir with his suggested compromise of wanting to provide employees of religious organizations with contraception coverage when it is not included through the insurance policy provided by their place of employment.
There are quite a few people who feel Obama is overstepping his bounds by trying to force religious organizations to provide contraception coverage to its employees. While he has agreed not to officially force the religious organizations to now include coverage for contraception for their employees, he has agreed on a compromise to try and assist their employees. Obama has stated that while employees of religious organizations may not be able to get coverage under their current insurance plans they will be able to go directly to the provider in order to get coverage.
Obama was trying to make sure that employees of religious organizations were able to receive the benefits of contraception coverage like many of the other non-religious business offer, but it has created a set of unexpected backlash throughout the country. Some people feel that Obama has no right to try and force the hands of the religious organizations, and that his compromise is not actually very helpful. The compromise will require employees of religious organizations to actually take out a separate insurance policy directly through their provider in order to receive the contraception coverage. Some people wonder if it is really worth all of the trouble and hassle and if the savings will really offset the time and money spent working around the religious organization. Others feel that it is not Obama’s place in order to work out deals for insurance policies when it comes to religious organizations.
The country seems to be split between believing that Obama is doing the right thing trying to offer an option for contraception coverage to the employees of religious organizations, and those that believe that the people who are employed by religious organizations know of the policies before they begin to work there, and that by accepting the position people are agreeing to the terms of the religious organizations policies.
Obama has announced the compromise, and only time will tell if the option for contraception coverage will actually end up being well received by the community. The truth is that the only people that will truly be affected by this decision are the religious organizations, the employees and the insurance providers.
