Pennsylvania Governor Signs Naturopathic Medicine Bill

Naturopathic Doctor In Bucks County Excited About New Breakthrough

Doylestown, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/11/2016 -- Governor Tom Wolf makes Pennsylvania the 21st U.S. jurisdiction to acknowledge and accept alternative medical practices. The Legislative Chair of the Pennsylvania Association of Naturopathic Medicine (PANP) Heidi Weinhold, N.D. shares her excitement; "We believe in integrative care and this law gives us the stature we need to work peer-to-peer with other disciplines."

The bill itself has been in discussion and reformation for sixteen years under the PANP and state legislature. The biggest goal of the bill was to create a well-known difference between a trained medical professional such as Dr. Julie Lachman of Doylestown Pennsylvania and Dr. Heidi Weinhold, opposed to those that practice from their own self-taught knowledge. This new law determines that any Naturopathic Doctor must successfully complete a four-year, postgraduate program through institutions that are recognized by the United States Department of Education. Some current Naturopathic doctors are working beside medical doctors at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Philadelphia and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centers for combined studies. Others, Like Dr. Julie Lachman, are handling their own private practices.
