Police Nab Man Suspected of Stealing Garage Door from Fatal Fire Scene Reports ReliableGarageDoorRepair.com

Dallas, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/24/2012 -- Police have arrested a man they suspect to have stolen a garage door from the scene of a fatal fire in Holiday City.

Detective Joseph Robertazzi said that the suspect stole a metal garage door. Luckily, an alert citizen noticed the situation and realized that there was something “not right” about a man trying to steal a garage door from a scene where the police have yellow taped the house.

The man was confronted by the citizen who had already photographed the culprit. The suspect, noticing the citizen, got alerted and sped away in his truck.

“The suspects stole a metal garage door that was on the property of 35 Biabou Drive,” said Robertazzi. “The house was surrounded by crime scene tape. Police units were not cleared from the house for an hour and a half when the theft occurred.”

Police were looking for a forest green Dodge Dakota pickup truck from the mid to late 1990?s, with a lighter green design on the driver and passenger side and a darker cap, according to the police.

Detectives tried to locate the citizen who provided the local news agency with pictures of the suspect. The police require the original resolution pictures in order to clearly read the number plate of the vehicle. The local web reporter who provided photos of the suspect was mentioned by Robertazzi after the suspect was captured. He said that without his help, it would not have been easy to catch the culprit.
“I’ve seen this truck before in the township,” Robertazzi said this afternoon. “They are scrappers. It’s only a matter of time before someone turns these people in.”
