2014 National Police Week T-Shirt Released

San Diego, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/28/2014 -- In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day. The week in which the Peace Officers Memorial Day falls is within Police Week each year. This year, it is expected that as many as 40,000 attendees will converge in Washington D.C. to participate in numerous planned events to honor and commemorate those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

In honor of Police Week each year, a limited number of commemorative Police Week t-shirts are released in honor of those who sacrificed their lives for others. This police shirt was designed by popular police artist, Brian Matthews. The shirt is emblazoned with four police badges on the front with a blue line through the middle as a symbolic shroud. On the back, there are the silhouettes of uniformed police officers and a police K9.

Matthews stated that he was honored to be chosen to design this year’s t-shirt. He said every year, these shirts sell out and actually increase in value because the supply is so limited. Matthews stated that the 2013 t-shirt has sold for as much as $300 on eBay. “Not a bad investment for twenty bucks,” Matthews laughed, “some people buy these purely for their investment value.”

This year’s Police Week t-shirts will be on sale only until May 14th, the day before Police Memorial Day. The limited edition t-shirts are available only at http://leoweek.com
