Port Indigo, a NYC-based mobile communications start-up, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funding to complete production of the goMo, a compact and portable Universal Remote Control for mobile devices, providing a first-ever way to remotely control Music and Video (and other apps) on mobile phones and tablets. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gomo/gomotm-the-mobile-multimedia-and-app-controller
New York, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/20/2013 -- The goMo addresses the "missing piece" of the mobile marketplace. Every entertainment system in the marketplace comes with a full-featured remote control, yet mobile phones and tablets -- used by consumers for music, video and every other form of entertainment -- have no universal remote until now.
The goMo will let consumers remotely control their music (when they are jogging, driving, or their phone is docked), find and share great video (using channels, just like a TV remote), speed dial memorized phone numbers, move to the next page of a recipe without smudging the screen, and even remotely press the shutter on their mobile device's camera: all without having to retrieve, tap, touch or swipe their mobile device.
There are tons of features built into this tiny remote. For instance, when controlling music, the goMo supports a variety of streaming services such as YouTube, Spotify, etc., which can be mapped to any one of the goMo's 6 Hotkeys, and then launched with a single click. The media control and function keys offer a simple, one-click way to control the multimedia experience, including changing songs, skipping tracks, and sharing with friends. When watching videos, interruptions are not problem: a single click saves what you are watching to your "save list", for later viewing.
The goMo is the first device of its kind to hit the consumer market. It weighs only 3 ounces and can be carried around on a key chain. It uses Bluetooth and works with most Android smartphones and tablets. An iOS version is next on the list.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gomo/gomotm-the-mobile-multimedia-and-app-controller aims to raise $75,000 to finish software development, and integrate popular streaming services. Kickstarter investors will be "early adopters" and have the device by late December 2013.
"In goMo, we have created a platform that is both exciting and powerful, one that can be customized and enjoyed by both sophisticated and novice audiences alike," said Moses Merchant, CEO and co-founder.
"The hard part is done," said Peter Dolch, a goMo co-founder. "We've already built and tested both the hardware and the 'first gen' software for the goMo. We have 200 working units in our offices. The product should be shipping by Christmas."
