2012 Key Players for The Toledo Area Athletic Conference
Austin, TX -- (SBWire) -- 04/11/2012 --The Toledo Area Athletic Conference (TAAC) high school baseball season gets under way, Ottawa Hills Green Bears will probably be taking a look at a promising youthful infielder and pitcher Scott Tucker for motivation while they attempt to stop 2 time defending champions, Northwood Rangers from sealing a third consecutive title. Ottawa Hills (16-15, 7-3) have lost all their pitchers to graduation but long time coach Chris Hardman believes the Green Bears ought to be sound defensively and quick on the base paths as a result of Scott Tucker's power to defend.
Scott Tucker, a junior (IF/P) had a 2-2 record with a 3.89 ERA and if the Green Bears are to stop the Rangers from winning their 3rd successive TAAC title, Tucker's pitching skills will probably have a big say in where the title ends up. Coach Hardman, who this season enters a remarkable 32nd year as coach of the Green Bears, recently stated that the greatest question mark will be where the pitching will come from.
With some already notable numbers to his name, the Green Bears will be hoping Scott Tucker can answer Coach Hardman's question about where the pitching will come from. Hardman went on to add that the kids have worked hard to be good. After getting to the States semi-finals a year ago, Hardman spoke of his Green Bears being favorites this year. According to Hardman you have to give the nod to the defending champs, Hardman went on to add that he thinks he'll have a top notch team.
The Green Bears are going to have 6 seniors back and will welcome 6 starters, and in addition to the promising Scott Tucker, positive things will no doubt come from senior Adam Moreau (SS/P) an All-TAAC 1st teamer who batted .398 with 20 RBI. Hardman further discussed the Green Bears' chances this year, according to Hardman we are always the favorite, but we have not won the league in three years. With Toledo Christian expected to be strong again this year the TAAC looks like it's going to have 3 serious contenders for the league title in 2012.
