Washington, DC -- (SBWire) -- 04/26/2010 -- Dr. Fred DiUlus, Founder and CEO of Washington DC based Global Academy Online, Inc., an online university builder, has been working in China for two years to introduce Chinese universities to online education. In June 2009, the Academy introduced the first comprehensive online virtual university capability in China to a traditional university, the Zhengzhou College of Economics, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, the Peoples Republic of China.

In December 2009, Global Academy Online arranged with Wolverine Asset Management of Grand Rapids, Michigan to fund the university’s expansion program. The signing ceremony that took place at the college on December 19th witnessed the largest single funding of a private university in China by a North American firm. The financing that includes approximately 100 million dollars over three years, will permit the college to grow its traditional student body to 20,000 residential and 100,000 online students within five years.

Among the innovations added to Zhengzhou College of Economics as a result of the private funding success is China’s first university hosted Technology Research Park along with an International Business Center headed by Canadian educator, Mr. Morley Chertkoff. Both innovations were designed by the Academy. A six-year veteran of Chinese higher education, Chertkoff currently heads Zhengzhou College’s English Department and played an important role in assisting the Academy in crossing the cultural divide that helped bring higher education innovation and financial support to Zhengzhou College of Economics.

Dr. DiUlus is an international veteran of online education innovation and development. In the mid nineties he established the first non-profit, online, education cyber foundation known as the Center for Ethics in Free Enterprise while Director of the Students in Free Enterprise program at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. The conceptualization and design for Global Academy Online to evolve into an international online university builder grew out of the Center’s research.
