Tampa, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/31/2012 -- To kick off their celebration Rapid Refill wants to bring awareness, help the environment and support a local charity. "Our business is about re-use and recycling but it's only one element of it," Bob Giest, owner at Rapid Refill. "Really the goal is to build a broader awareness for recycling and what can be recycled."
From November 12-17 Rapid Refill will join forces with Urban E Recycling to present “Electronics for a Cause,” a weeklong event offering free recycling of consumer electronics.
Recycling proceeds will benefit the Hillsborough Achievement And Resource Centers (HARC), a county based organization that helps people with disabilities. "I wanted to give more back to the local community and that's why we selected HARC because they are a local based non profit," Geist said. Rapid Refill has been open for five years in the Carrollwood area and has been very active in many community events and with many local organizations.
Items that will be accepted for recycling include: , DVD players, VCRs, modems, cable boxes, satellite receivers, routers, lead acid non-spillable batteries, computers (desktop and laptop), servers, hard drives, circuit boards, UPS battery backups, monitors, flat screens, printers, copierslithium ion batteries, cell phones, telephones, phone system hardware, insulated cable, all metals associated with electronics and video game systems.
Wanting to also do their part in support of HARC, Urban E Recycling will offer to wipe (destroy all data) hard drives off-site and provide a data destruction certificate for a $5 fee, which will be donated to HARC. The event will also feature on-site, secure document shredding for a discounted fee of 79 cent per pound.
When dropping off these items at 10416 N. Dale Mabry Highway you will be entered into a drawing to win a refurbished desktop computer and gift cards from area retailers. Items may be dropped off Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Have larger items to dispose of? The recycling event will also benefit consumers with large electronics they need to get rid of. Those wishing to donate large items, such as big screens or a large quantity of items, can call Rapid Refill Ink at (813) 514-0679, to arrange for pick-up.
