Business Networking Platform Company Receives Oregon Benefit Company Status
Portland, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/03/2014 -- Cutting edge business networking platform, ReciProty, has just been named an Oregon Benefit Company by Secretary of State, Kate Brown. The title recognizes ReciProty, among other businesses, for their commitment to social responsibility.
On Thursday, January 2nd, 24 businesses were officially registered as Benefit Companies in Oregon, including the local business networking platform, ReciProty. ReciProty is one of the first Oregon companies to hold this title, as this date marked the first day to be eligible for it according to new Benefit legislation. In order to qualify, Oregon Benefit Companies must prove their commitment to creating jobs and making a positive social impact. Since ReciProty’s vision includes a mission to connect people and resources to help those in need, founder Renee Wilbur felt that the Benefit Company status just made sense. “I believe my purpose is to help people connect to the support, resource, marketing and business opportunities they need.” she commented upon accepting the title, “My path and vision have led me to develop ReciProty in order to achieve this purpose.” She hopes that the status and responsibility that comes with being an Oregon Benefit Company will further strengthen this mission.
Already, ReciProty is bringing knowledge, resources, and hope to people in Oregon and beyond. The site started as a means for people to get the local support they need and for businesses to excel like they did in the old days, but with a 21st century twist. This twist involves an exciting geo-location feature that allows members to target and connect with whomever, wherever for a variety of local and national networking opportunities. Since its launch, ReciProty has signed 1600+ members comprised of major corporations, non-profit organizations, entrepreneurs, authors, business owners and community members. The resource exchange website has features that allow people to give and get support no matter their needs; business or personal. Members have the opportunity to share resources, request help, advertise their business, post discounts, gain referrals, start or join business networking and support groups, and more. As the membership list grows, the reach and social impact ReciProty offers is bound to grow exponentially. As one of the first Oregon Benefit Companies, Renee Wilbur is proud of this impact, saying, “It has been and is a potential miracle for many.”
ReciProty was founded by Renee Wilbur in February of 2009 and has seen a consistently growing membership ever since. Its geo-location capabilities make it an effective tool for local business networking, an effective practice that has declined with the rise of the internet age. Now, businesses can log on to the site to share information, network with other professionals, get referred to clients, advertise promotions, and to give professional and/or community support.
