Kurumba Maldives Wins "Maldives Leading Hotel" in World Travel Awards 2011

The World Travel Awards is described as The Oscars of the global Travel & Tourism Industry. - The Awards, described by the Wall Street Journal as the 'Oscars' of the global travel and tourism industry, revealing who are the 'best of the best' in the world.

This 11th World Travel awards ceremony for the Indian Ocean and Africa region was hosted on the 16th September 2011 at the SOHO Square, Sharm el Sheikh, in Egypt.

Attending the awards were the industry’s elite – including government ministers, tourist board chiefs and CEOs of blue-chip travel companies
– travelled from across Africa and the Indian Ocean to attend the glittering gala ceremony, which was headlined by Lebanese music sensation Carole Samaha.

The raft of media in attendance included National Geographic Traveler, Discovery Channel, Newsweek, Weltexpress and Times of India. Nearly 800 senior management and decision makers from the world's travel and tourism industry came together to celebrate their achievements at this star-studded event.

Aside from obtaining the "Maldives Leading Hotel" title for 2010 and 2011, Kurumba Maldives has also walked away with the 3 other awards in 2008, namely the "Indian Ocean's Leading Resort", the "Maldives' Leading Resort" and the "Maldives Leading Spa Resort".
