Support Real Dazzled by International Magic Festival

Madrid, Spain -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/12/2012 -- In the Egyptian Museum of Berlin, in a privileged location, lies the Westcar Papyrus. Written in the 16th century, it tells of how a magician called Djedi impressed the king with a show. He firstly made several pebbles disappear before the kings eyes, then beheaded a bird, which then walked around as if nothing had happened, much to the surprise of the powerful king. This was one of the first magic shows we know of. “Magic has a long history of surprising and delighting us,” said a source from Support Real, “

“Magic generates a unique surprise,” says Jorge Blass, “as the viewer witnesses the impossible in his own eyes.” He knows what he’s talking about. He is the founder of the Abracadabra Foundation, and head of the International Magic Festival in Madrid. “Magic has had a great time,” says Blass, “The shops are filled and the festival has expanded its programming from one to two weeks.”

Blass owes much of his vocation to the legendary Juan Tamariz, who he used to watch on television when he was a child. He was so drawn in by the world of magic that he attended the school run by Tamariz. “Then the course was five weeks,” he said, “now it is three years… and there are more students.” The vast majority of students don’t end up professionally involved in magic, but still learn tricks that continue to delight their friends and family.

“The festival is an amazing experience, and there’s so much to see and just be amazed by,” said our source at Support Real, “There are so many talented and exciting illusionists there. You get to see things you just never expected to see.”

The illusion must be a constantly changing one. Together with a team of advisors, Jorge Blass takes a long time to come up with each of his tricks, which he prefers to call ‘games’. His last great creation centers around an iPad, though which, using the social network Facebook, Blass asks a spectator to choose a friend from another city, who he then makes appear on stage. The magician got a standing ovation, and no wonder. “In these times, demand is so much better,” says Blass, “And the magicians are dedicated precisely to generating it.”

Our source at Support Real said, “Anyone who hasn’t been down to the festival for a visit should definitely have a look. There’s something there to bring a smile to anyone’s face.”
