Herbalife Ltd.(NYSE:HLF) - Carl Icahn looks to be out for blood, disclosing late today that he's bought 14M shares, representing a 13% stake in battered Herbalife (HLF). According to the SEC filing, Icahn claims to "have conducted significant analysis," and "concluded that the company has a legitimate business model, with favorable long-term opportunities for growth." The disclosure further adds that he intends to have discussions with management regarding the business and strategic alternatives to enhance shareholder value, such as a recapitalization or going-private.

Shares of Hospira (HSP) took a hit after the maker of intravenous pumps says the FDA has expanded an import ban on several of its products made in a Costa Rica plant. Due to the ban - and just a day after the company reported Q4 earnings - it now says it's withdrawing FY13 guidance, adding it could see sales drop by $50M to $100M, and earnings fall by $0.05 to $0.15 a share.
