SCTIT Awarded President's Scholarships to Mertorious Stdents

8th Feb 2013, was a red letter day in the history of Shanthi Charitable Trust. For the first time ever scholarships, in the form of cash awards, were presented to students of SCT Institute of Technology and SCT Polytechnic.


Bangalore, Karnataka -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/18/2013 -- . There were 16 students of engineering and 10 students of Polytechnic, who were presented cash awards in four categories for academic excellence during the year 2010-11 at the University / Board examinations scoring 75% or more on the aggregate.

a) Cat I : Rs 15,000/- each for scoring 85% or more ---- 1 student.
b) Cat II: Rs 10,000/- each for scoring 80% to 85%. ---- 2 students.
c) Cat III: Rs 5,000/- each for scoring 75% to 80%. ---- 13 students.
d) Cat IV: Rs 2,000/- each for Polytechnic students. ---- 10 students.

Shri Ashok Kheny, CMD,NICE, Bangalore was the chief guest of the day, who distributed the awards. On his arrival at the college, Shri Kheny was received by Shri V V Basavaraj, President and Managing Trustee of Shanthi Charitable Trust and guided the guest to witness ‘Students Projects Demonstration’.

“HOVER ON” model which won the first prize at Techfest 2013 at IIT, Bombay was demonstrated by Anirudh Kurup of IV Sem Aeronauticl Engineering and “POWERED HAND EXOSKELETON”, a robotic hand simulator designed by Rajeev Jugran & team of VIII Sem, Mechanical Engineering (2012) was also exhibited. Shri Ashok Kheny appreciated the good work done by the students and the guiding staff. He advised to modify the robotic hand with remote control to enhance its practical utility in defense application.
Later, Shri Kheny was received at the Scholarship Presentation event, which was well attended by over 1000 students and about 200 faculty members and other guests. The following dignitaries have graced the function.

a) Shri Sanjay Kheni, Chairman, BSSK Sugar Factory, Hallikhed.
b) Dr. V V Nagaraj, ENT Surgeon, BRIMS, Bidar.
c) Shri Basavaraj Biradar, Director, SCT, Bangalore.
d) Shri Jagannath Halmadgi, President, ABVMS, Humnabad.

The formal function started with a welcome Bharath Natyam dance By Ms Anusuya shetty, VI Sem and Ms Puja of IV Sem, Aeronautical engineering which was followed by Kannada Rashtriya Song (Naadageethe) by a group of students and the lighting of the auspicious lamp.

Shri Ashok Kheny, in his address exhorted the students to do away with the artificial distinction caused by class, caste, community and religious considerations and uphold the identity as Indians. He advised the students to listen to their conscience and act accordingly in all matters. He congratulated the students who won the scholarships and thanked the management for instituting the awards as a motivator to others. He also appreciated the standards achieved by the college in technical education and offered his support in the future growth of the college.

Shri. V V Basavaraj, in his speech thanked Shri. Kheny for having taken time off from his busy schedule so as to be with the students of SCT Institutions and for sharing his experiences as an engineer and an entrepreneur as also for his invaluable advice.
