Shannon’s husband has a broken Heart and in need of a Heart Transplant. Charles is listed with Emory as 1 A on the transplant list.
Savannah, GA -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/20/2013 -- Shannon’s husband, Charles, has a broken heart and currently on a heart transplant list at Emory Hospital. Since his heart attack in June 2011, Shannon is now the main means of support. Everyone knows how difficult it is for one income families to make ends meet.
On June 1, 2011, Charles experienced a heart attack while out of town. He had flu like and other symptoms before going to the hospital. All the symptoms started at once, high fever, nausea, weak arms and legs, high rate of perspiration, shortness of breath, and pains in the chest.
Contributors are the key to make a heart transplant possible for Charles. The funds raised will be used to pay off the current deductible and future medical bills.
The current deductible associated with Shannon and Charles’ insurance is $15,000 a year. This is the out of pocket expenses, yet many bills exceed the amount allowed by the insurance company and the providers forward these charges to us for payment.
An amount of $17,000 will assist in paying the deductible this year and help with wound care supplies over the next year. About $12,000 will be applied to the remaining deductible for this year, $5,000 for next year and the remainder for wound care supplies. Wound care supplies are important and changing the wound dressings everyday, as the hospital requires, reduces the chance of infection. This reduces hospital visits for infections and reduces the hospital charges.
This campaign will receive all funds raised even if it does not reach its goal. Funding duration: August 11, 2013 - September 25, 2013 (11:59pm PT).
