Premium channel has star-studded actors in a sit-down with press
San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/23/2013 -- It is no secret that the premium channels get to play by different rules than the commercial channels in many aspects. One of the most important aspects from a business standpoint is that particular time lots are not under as much pressure for success, as Showtime's entertainment chief David Nevins stated during a TCA sit-down with reporters.
Nevins pointed to a an audience rating of 65% of the popular Dexter show who watched the episode sometime after the original airing of the program.
That said, Showtime has decided to focus on a particular evening time program line in presenting an afternoon panel that features actors from its Sunday night lineup of “House of Lies”, “Californication”, and “Shameless”.
The conversation could be described as lively as it ranged across the map; however, at one point the talks turned to Macy's short haircut, which is a striking contrast to his character's filthy locks on the “Shameless” set. “I cut it off on the show, it was very dramatic,” the actor said, joking that after his buzz cut he enjoyed watching the faces of onlookers searching for something positive to say about his new look. “I got 7 hats for Christmas,” he added.
Speaking on his character, the actor drew laughs by saying: “There is no low for this character. They have installed special low-cal scenery because I’ve been eating so much of it.”
Cheadle was also in proper comedic form whilst he listened to co-star Bell praise him for avoiding the abuse of his being both a star and producer when working with the ensemble cast.
“There was never a time when anyone felt like he was giving a note,” Bell said as Cheadle quietly handed her money (a bill, denomination unknown) that she slipped inside the front of her dress. “You’re so handsome,” she purred as she accepted the money.
