The April 2014 issue of Fitness Magazine offers a primer on the latest skin care products and medical treatments. Dr. Simon Ourian of Epione Medical Corporation comments on the magazine’s suggestions for treating redness, hyperpigmentation, and acne.
Beverly Hills, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/18/2014 -- According to the April 2014 issue of Fitness Magazine, human skin is prone to scars, redness, and spots that result from various genetic, hormonal, and external factors. Some of the distressing skin conditions include skin reddening, brown spots, and acne. Prevention of these conditions, as well as their treatment, can keep them at bay; resulting in healthy, smooth and even-toned skin. (see goo.gl/AxR104)
“Do not ignore abnormal redness on the skin,” says Dr. Simon Ourian, Medical Director of Epione Beverly Hills. “Use a gentle cleanser to wash the affected area in the mornings, followed by the application of a fragrance-free, lightweight moisturizer that contains anti-redness ingredients like vitamin C with glucose and caffeine. Finish by using a sunscreen that contains at least an SPF 30 because rosacea can become worse when exposed to UV rays.“
According to the article, some people suffer brown or dark spots on their skin, mostly due to exposure to UV (sun) light, which triggers hyperpigmentation. Although these spots have been mythologized as age spots, they have little to do with how old a person is and more to do with how much exposure to direct UV light a person has had in his or her lifetime. These spots can be prevented, first and foremost, through reduced exposure to direct sunlight and the regular use of sunscreen. The spots can also be prevented by avoiding harsh skin exfoliants as they injure the skin and trigger hyperpigmentation as the skin tries to heal.
“Glittery, silica-based make-ups should be avoided as they block skin pores and cause blotches,” says Dr. Ourian. “To keep such spots at bay or even treat them, people should avoid the use of harsh exfoliants and cleansers, clean skin regularly with mild products, keep out of direct sunlight as much as possible and apply moisturizers, skin soothing and healing products on the skin.”
