There is a lack of innovation when it comes to computer hardware and Valve is looking to fix that
San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/10/2012 -- Valve Software Company has decided to move into the hardware business. The company basically deals with digital distribution of games and is now looking to get into the computer hardware business as well. The decision to move into the hardware business came after the company elaborated that they believe that there is a major room for innovation in the computer hardware world and they want to tap in to it.
The company stated that they have been frustrated with the lack of innovation in the computer hardware business and see a real void in the marketplace for it. There is a major opportunity to create compelling user experiences by innovating but so far it has been overlooked.
Valve, a company that deals with open platforms like PC and Mac, says that they are important to the company as they enable their partners to have a robust and direct relationship with the customer but the lack of innovation in the hardware sector has been the major tipping point for them to jump into the field.
They talked about the basic things like the mouse and keyboard, which according to them is the same as it was years ago without any major innovation coming through for these basic devices.
Valve has not revealed the specifics of what kind of hardware they will be looking into first but mentioned the basic input peripherals like the keyboard and the mouse.
They cleared rumours that they are not looking to build their own consoles, confirmed Valve marketing director Doug Lombardi.
“Even basic input, the keyboard and mouse, haven’t really changed in any meaningful way over the years. There’s a real void in the marketplace, and opportunities to create compelling user experiences are being overlooked and haven’t really changed in any meaningful way over the years.” The Post reads.
