McDonald's Corporation(NYSE:MCD)shares decreased 0.16% to $97.62. The Company Law Board (CLB) on Sept. 25 adjourned its hearing of the petition filed by Vikram Bakshi, the estranged Indian partner of American food chain major McDonald's, to October 3. The CLB also directed Vikram Bakshi to file rejoinder over the reply filed by McDonald's and other respondents within a week.
Additionally, the company’s board on Sept. 18 approved a 5% hike to the fast-food chain's dividend, a move that highlights the company's preference to return cash to shareholders first through dividends, with a secondary focus on buybacks.
President and Chief Executive Don Thompson said the increase would bring total cash returned to shareholders to a range of $4.5 billion to $5 billion in 2013 through dividends and share repurchases. The latest increase will cost McDonald's roughly $160 million a year.
