Huntington Bancshares Incorporated (NASDAQ:HBAN) shares declined 1.52% to $8.41. On October 10, 2013, Huntington and Camco Financial Corporation jointly announced the signing of a definitive merger agreement under which Huntington will acquire Camco in a cash and stock transaction. Under the terms of the agreement, Camco shareholders will receive 0.7264 shares of Huntington common stock, or $6.00 in cash, for each share of common stock, subject to proration provisions specified in the merger agreement that provide for a targeted aggregate split of total consideration of 80% common stock and 20% cash. The boards of both companies have unanimously approved the merger agreement. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2014.
Additionally, the company expects to report its third quarter earnings on Thursday, October 17, 2013, prior to the market opening. Huntington's senior management will host an earnings conference call the same day at 10:00 a.m. (Eastern Time).

Elan Corporation, plc (ADR) (NYSE:ELN) stock declined 0.12% and closed at $16.10. The company on Sept. 30 announced that it has scheduled shareholder meetings for Monday, November 18, 2013 in connection with Perrigo Company’s (NYSE, TASE: PRGO) (“Perrigo”) proposed acquisition of Elan.
As previously announced on July 29, 2013, Perrigo and Elan have entered into a definitive agreement pursuant to which New Perrigo will acquire Elan in a stock-and-cash transaction valued at approximately $8.6 billion (the "Acquisition"). The Acquisition will be effected by means of a “Scheme of Arrangement” under Irish law (the “Scheme”).
