The Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey Supports "Not 18 Yet? No Bet" Campaign

Hamilton, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/12/2017 -- The Council for Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey (CCGNJ) recently took part in a press conference hosted by the NJ Lottery at the ACME located in Hamilton Square, NJ. The event, which took place on August 16th, kicked off the Lottery's "Not 18 Yet? No Bet" campaign, an initiative that aims to educate and remind both retailers and citizens that New Jersey law forbids anyone under the age of 18 from buying or selling lottery tickets.

The CCGNJ proudly supports this initiative and seeks to aid anyone suffering from disordered gambling, from underage gamblers in Hamilton to retirees addicted to racetrack wagering in Freehold, NJ, and everyone in between.

Carole Hedinger, Executive Director of the New Jersey Lottery, commenced the press conference by emphasizing the importance of the relationship between the Lottery and its partnered retailers. As she explained, the NJ Lottery renews their pledge to responsible, legal gambling every year with the "Not 18 Yet? No Bet" campaign shortly before school begins. After describing their social media initiative and the other efforts they are making to publicize the campaign, she stressed the importance of the Lottery's partnership with CCGNJ.

"The New Jersey Lottery has maintained a long-standing relationship with the CCGNJ. They are vital partners in this endeavor and we continue to support the vital mission of the Council," she said, proceeding to introduce Neva Pryor, Executive Director of the CCGNJ.

"The message is that there is recovery for the problem gambler. At 800-GAMBLER, we offer support, treatment, and hope, to not only the problem gambler, but also their families," statesd Pryor. "We are so happy to have this opportunity to support the 'Not 18 Yet? No Bet' campaign," she added.

The CCGNJ's 1-800-GAMBLER hotline offers confidential, 24/7 support for anyone seeking help with problem gambling, whether it be underage gambling or addiction to sports betting in Atlantic City. Those looking for support can also reach out via text message or online chat.
