Hanoi, Viet Nam -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/18/2013 -- A new project set up in Hué on the north central coast of Vietnam will bring conferences, workshops, exhibitions and displays to the town. All works will be by Vietnamese artists. The New Space Arts Foundation is an ongoing project about new media and they have been following this subject for the last couple of years. The space is especially welcoming of artists from Hué, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and enables them to meet together with curators to discuss future initiatives.
Hué is becoming something of a main center for the arts, especially for young artists looking for a creative outlet for their contemporary projects. The city has been holding festivals every two years since the turn of the millennium, show-casing this particular branch of the arts. It’s a breath of fresh air for artists and audiences alike.
Hué is a small but fascinating town on the coast. The Old Town here is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and draws thousands of visitors every year. It has been working hard in recent years to ensure that in the clamor to see the old section of the city, the new modern Hué does not get lost. This project is of great importance, the significance of it being situated here is not lost on the population.
The build up to the main event started on September 6th with a “video art projections by Vietnamese and international artists, in collaboration with Doclab”. This event ran for five consecutive nights up to the eve of the event when a talk was given by Tran Luong.
The New Space Arts Foundation in conjunction with Hué University have worked together in recent years to organise conferences, workshops and exhibitions on a regular basis. This strong association of a meeting of the minds, has caused independent artists working in the genre to form permanent alliances.
All artist performing at the event have been selected from many who are working separately and completely independently usual various visual art forms. Whilst video dominates, it is not the only element. The New Space Arts Foundation has staged this major event with perspective in mind. They act as curators and organizers to promote and stage the event.
It is an important date in the Hué calendar and early indications are that the show is being extremely well received, both by the residents of Hué and by the traveling public. In the build up to the high season on Vietnam’s east coast, it is a welcome addition to the tourism aspect, in the area. Asia Tour Advisor, CEO Mr Tran Truong, says, “ Anything that brings increasing numbers of tourist to Hué is of course to be encouraged. That it is an important event of this nature is perfectly in keeping with the high cultural expectations of guests to the city.”
All participating artists are bringing their own unique style to the exhibition. Perspective aims to bring these artists together in away that will not simply introduce new works of art, but will enable artists to interact within the same space.
The New Space Arts Foundation Exhibition runs until Sept 17th.
