San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/01/2013 -- Tim Brown, a Wetmore resident is one of only three local artists given a spot to be features in the First Friday event at the Artist Gallery for August. He is the youngest members of the Artists’ Gallery and one of the newest to show his work among the gallery’s 40 artists.
At first, he applied to have his photography hang in the gallery and the judges turned him down, so he continued to work on his skills and technique, going on to win several awards and eventually a scholarship in the student art show to Pueblo Community College at the Fremont Campus. He took the no as a challenge, he said. It was his goal of getting there. He knew anyone could be a photographer, but it takes special skills to be able to show them off in an art gallery.
Brown, 21, said his interest in photography sparked when he was given a disposable camera for his eighth birthday. Now, he owns 11. At 15, he got his first digital camera, and ever since, he been buying different ones to take different types of photography.
Brown will be at the First Friday event reception at the Artists’ Gallery along with local artists Tom McGowan and Sharon Dykes-Modlens, where Hannah Jo Besse is the debuted artist.
