DISH Network Corp.(NASDAQ:DISH) shares increased 1.35% to $44.96. DISH and NCC Media on August 27 announced the formation of a groundbreaking partnership that expands upon the cable industry's collaborative I+ initiative which links cable, satellite and telco companies' ad inventory. The agreement will combine ad impressions in over 3 million additional DISH subscriber homes with those of NCC owners Comcast, Cox and Time Warner Cable in 25 of the largest US markets, delivering tremendous advantages to advertisers - greater local reach and penetration against targeted consumers in the best programming on television.
Additionally, the company on August 6 posted a net loss in the second quarter as it took a $438 million charge related to satellite acquisitions, and reported a decline in gross pay-TV subscribers.
The company reported a net loss of $11 million, or 2 cents per share, in the second quarter, compared with a net profit of $226 million, or 50 cents per share, a year earlier. Revenue rose 1 percent to $3.61 billion. The company said total pay-TV subscribers declined about 78,000 in the quarter. The company added nearly 624,000 gross pay-TV subscribers, down from about 665,000 a year earlier. Analysts had expected Dish to add 648,000 gross pay-TV subscribers

Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF) stock increased 1.31% to $61.01. The company on July 29 reported second quarter net sales of $1.2 billion, reflecting an increase of 18 percent compared to the same time period in 2012, on volume point growth of 14 percent. Adjusted net income for the quarter of $150.7 million, or $1.41 per diluted share, compares to the second quarter 2012 net income of $132.0 million and EPS of $1.09, respectively. On an as reported basis, second quarter 2013 EPS of $1.34 increased 23 percent compared to the $1.09 reported in the comparable quarter last year.
