Newtownabbey, Ireland -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/16/2013 -- According to a recent report by Scottish MPs, a lot of UK banks are continuing to aggressively target customers who have gotten themselves into financial difficulties.
Undesirable practices such as automated calls should stop immediately according to the MP's. The report also states that banks have an obligation to behave in a fair manor, during this difficult financial period.
The committee of MP's made recommendations that banks should work with Citizens Advice Scotland to ensure an end of aggressive collection tactics.
The Scottish committee expressed regret that banks considered it necessary to reward some of their bank executives with huge bonuses when thousands of normal employees face job losses.
The committee that is fronted by chairman, Mohammed Sarwar MP, stated: "Whilst the committee recognises efforts being made by the UK and Scottish governments to provide support for individuals and businesses who are struggling to cope, unacceptable practices used by banks must stop."
The committee went on to warn that small businesses were having a hard time getting credit at a reasonable rate. The committee stated that legitimate businesses were not getting the credit they deserved.
The Federation of Small Businesses heaped praise on the committee for its efforts in highlighting the current problems.
