Vigilant Citizen Calls in Illegal Dumping Reports Roll off Dumpster Rental

San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/12/2013 -- A keen-eyed motorist spotted a suspiciously parked van in the Wendover are and helped bring up prosecution charges for illegal dumping of waste by a local man. Officials applauded the do-gooder for noting the vehicle and taking proactive steps to make sure the man was brought to justice.

The motorist stated he saw the vehicle marked off Nash Lee Lane in September 2012, in an area that had previously seen dumping in the past. He stated he saw two men nearby dumping trash and wrote down the van's registration number. Later, he stated he found waste, including household items, clothing, and unused charity collection bags. He then reported the Waste Partnership for Bucks.

Subsequent to the investigation, an item was traced back a particular addresses in Edlesborough. The householder recognized the items from the dumped wasted as those she have given to a door-to-door cancer charity collection group the day before.

The van was traced to Lithuanian national Niauris Stasiunas of Milton Road, Luton. Stasiunas admitted to having been driving the van when the dump was made, and claimed he had been using the van to help someone move from Luton to Aylebury. He then stated he had made a stop on the approach to Aylesbury. While the van was stopped Stasiunas stated he saw passengers throwing items from the van, but he did not clam to know the identities of the individuals or what they had thrown out.

Stasiunas pleaded guilty to dumping earlier in the month, and the fine was levied at £400, while he was also ordered to pay for clean-up of prosecution costs of £1,278. A surchage of £15 was also levied as a 'victms surcharge'.
