VoiceAmerica Hosts United Nations' International Day of Yoga Programs

VoiceAmerica’s Convergence Series & the International Day of Yoga Committee at the United Nations celebrate Yoga Day 2018 with a special program companioned by an issue of Light on Light Magazine (cover image attached). Contributors include United Nations Yoga Day organizers and legendary Yoga Masters & Practitioners.

 

Phoenix, AZ -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/07/2018 -- VoiceAmerica's Unity Earth Convergence Series is delighted to present a special program to celebrate Yoga Day 2018. Co-created with the United Nations NGO Committee for the International Day of Yoga (June 21) and co-hosted by Denise Scotto, Chair of the UN Committee, the program features major yoga figures and programs from around the world. It is companioned by a special issue of Light on Light Magazine (cover image attached and located by searching "Light on Light ISSUU"), bringing further color illustration, information, and embedded music and videos celebrating this major international holiday worldwide. Contributors include UN Yoga Day organizers and international yoga luminaries Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Yogmata, Sadhguru, Pujya Swami, Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati, Dadi Janki, and Maya Tiwari, along with the creators of SHIFT Network's 2018 Yoga Day Summit.

In December 2014, the UN General Assembly designated June 21 as the International Day of Yoga encouraging everyone globally to learn how the ancient practice of yoga creates better health and well-being.

This Special shows the significance of how yoga, in its fullness, is experienced in the work of the UN, is practiced in the daily lives of people every day in numerous ways through NGOs associated with the UN, as well as how Yoga Day is celebrated around the world.

Other special guests include these United Nations associates: Padmini Murthy, MD, MPH, a pranayama practitioner explaining findings from medical studies revealing the positive effects of practicing yoga on health and well-being; Sister Mary Friedland, Director of the Chicago Brahma Kumaris Center and the Midwest Region describes how meditation helps students reduce anger, anxiety, and stress and builds confidence and resilience; Judy Rodgers, Founder of Images & Voice of Hope (IVOH) discusses how yoga influences media to create restorative narratives and foster inspiration; Denis Licul, President of Yoga in Daily Life US and yoga teacher, conveys how human beings are one part of nature and how living interdependently with our natural world is achievable.

Convergence's host yogini, Karuna, who is also the Host Editor of Light on Light Magazine, discusses global experiences and Philip Hellmich, Director of the SHIFT Network's Yoga Day Summit talks about yoga's heartfelt wisdom & the Annual International Yoga Festival organized by Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh, India where a diverse group of spiritual leaders, yoga masters and yoga lovers join deeper into contemplative practice.
