San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/05/2012 -- According to a survey by Inspirato, Washington D.C. residents are more likely to go on vacations than residents of any other U.S. city. The survey also revealed that residents of Chicago are the least likely to go on vacations.

An average of 73% of D.C. residents have taken annual vacations between 2008 and 2012 while in San Francisco, this number is down to 70%. In Boston, the number is 68%, making these three cities at the top of the survey’s list.

The author of over 40 self-help books including Simpler Living, Jeff Davidson comments on Chicago’s 55% by stating that “There are many reasons why someone might not take their vacation.”

He claims that it is not necessarily a bad quality, “A real trooper doesn’t take vacation.”
Harris Interactive conducted the survey online for Inspirato, an online luxury destination club.

It polled around 2,534 people in the ten largest metropolitan areas in the U.S.: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Washington, D.C
