Less than 11% of Hong Kong adults smoke regularly: one of the lowest levels in the world. In per capita terms, the average was down to 436 pieces in the year to March 2013: only a third of 1990 levels.

The profile of the non-duty paid market has reduced substantially since the late 1900s/early 2000s but is now increasing again as cigarette prices rise.
