Build-to-Let Boom Is Forecast for Young People Wanting to Rent

London, England -- (SBWire) -- 12/21/2015 --According to researchers at Knight Frank, over the next five years there are set to be big investments in housing designed for rent, especially in major cities such as London. This includes an anticipated sum as high as £50 billion being placed in so-called 'build-to-let' schemes by institutional investors. This revelation highlights that investment is beginning to work in the acknowledgement that more young people are renting than ever, and provisions are needed for the market demand. In turn, the prospect of moving to an affordable yet conveniently-located rental property could be closer than people first think.

Renting property in the UK is often the only manageable option for young people, many of whom feel priced-out of city buying costs and also the prospect of large mortgages. Renting offers a greater flexibility and less overt financial pressure; making it an attractive option, especially to those who do not want to stay 'tied down' to a house.

The research carried out by Knight Frank showed that £15 billion had already been invested in the sector, with the £50 billion investment mark expected to be hit by 2020. Building properties for rental specifically means a greater availability of affordable housing people can readily move to, and keen to comment on this was an expert in the area, Top Removals. A spokesperson had this to say:

"That the focus of investment appears to be on property to rent could be considered a crucial move by many. Rentals offer a flexible, often more affordable way of managing property; and we've been helping increasing numbers f people move to rented homes. Of course, we will continue to offer our services in what is expected to be a busy time of moving over the next few years!"
