Vienna, Austria -- (SBWire) -- 03/25/2014 --Yvonne Oswald is appealing to all to help her create an outstanding art book about a historically important monument, the largest former palace hotel in Central Europe. The Suedbahnhotel, magic mountain of the Viennese, abandoned since fifty years and in danger to disappear forever.

The Suedbahnhotel (or Southern Railway Hotel) up at the Semmering mountains south of Vienna, is one of the last untouched examples of a palace hotel and stands as a symbol for the history of the Viennese and Central European society of the late 19th and early 20th century.

Yvonne’s photographic project started in 2009. She wanted to delve into what remained of the sophisticated life? Would one still be able to sense the atmosphere of this exceptional time? Or only the melancholia of a dying palace hotel? What remained of the elegant facade, the passion and creativity of this complex society, and is the tragedy of the sudden brutal end of this era still lingering in these rooms?

The photos for the book are all ready. Yvonne plans a hardcover book 26x28 cm (10,2x11 in) with 180 pages featuring about 220 of her photos in high quality printing as well as essays by the philosopher Elisabeth von Samsonow and two other authors to the content of the book.

Metro Verlag/Vienna will bring out my book with an edition of 2000 copies in German and English. Elisabeth Kopf, award winning book designer, will bring the pages to life. Furthermore, three exhibitions about the project are in planning for 2014 and 2015 .

High quality books of this kind are expensive to produce and the printing costs will make out the biggest part (about € 11.000). Yvonne also has to cover the costs for graphic design, text, translation, proofing and shipping. She has settled all her travels and other expenses over the years herself. Funding support will ensure that this book is printed to the highest possible standards.

This campaign will receive all funds raised even if it does not reach its goal. Funding duration: March 15, 2014 - May 12, 2014 (11:59pm PT).
