Noida, Delhi -- (SBWire) -- 08/22/2011 --McAfee mobile security software will come preinstalled with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro and forthcoming Xperia Pro smartphones.

With McAfee's Mobile Security software, users can keep track of their device with the alarm and location tracking feature; prevent misuse with remote lock; wipe feature and preserve important data with remote back-up / restore feature even from a lost or misplaced phone.

At the same time, McAfee Mobile Security software will also safeguard the smartphone against the risk of malware that might originate by internet enabled services such as email, instant messaging and file downloads.

"It is far too easy to leave a mobile device in a cab or at the airport, which can mean lost contacts, photos, financial information and other important content. With malware targeting mobile devices growing quarter-on-quarter, there is also the risk of these devices being hacked, infected or phished. The availability of this technology is an important milestone in protecting both the phone itself and the data that resides on the device," said Todd Gebhart, co-president, McAfee.

Todd further added: "Privacy of the user has been specially taken care of with the application as it gives full flexibility to the users to control what they want to show to other people or users of the application. And no one other than the desired recipient can access the event."

Sony Ericsson will not levy any charges on the handsets which would come preloaded with the McAfee mobile security software.

There is no information on as to when and how the present Xperia Mini Pro users would get the security software upgrade, but it is expected that the software will be available for download for existing users as well though Sony Ericsson's PC companion software.
