Wayne, PA -- (SBWire) -- 05/20/2009 -- Deacom, Inc. (http://www.deacom.net) convened users of its DEACOM Integrated Accounting and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software System on May 6-7 at the 2009 Deacom User Conference in Philadelphia, Pa. Process, building component, and modular building manufacturing firms gathered at the Top of the Tower to learn about new DEACOM functionality, improve their use of existing system features, and network with other ERP software users and Deacom staff.

Headlining the two-day event were demonstrations and discussions of newly-released DEACOM version 10.4, which includes functionality enhancements in Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Quality Control (QC), and environmental reporting. The first day of the event featured large-group presentations on new and existing functionality, and the second day offered smaller breakout sessions for more in-depth discussions.

Matt Copps, controller of Wisconsin-based Copps Industries, says he came to the conference specifically to study 10.4 features, and "especially the time-phased MRP," which allows companies to view future material requirements based on user-definable time frames. "We're excited about that," Copps says. "It's going to be a big help to us."

Brett Hamler, IT manager of new Deacom customer Allensville Planing Mill, says participating in a live forum, where he could meet face-to-face with Deacom staff and see the system in action, was especially helpful for his company because it is currently undergoing implementation.

"The breakout sessions, in particular, were very helpful," Hamler says. "Very targeted and precise."

Between conference sessions, participants enjoyed networking with other manufacturers about their businesses and best practices in using DEACOM.

Brian Goff, vice president of administration and finance at South Carolina-based coatings and adhesives manufacturer SEM Products, Inc., says, in general, the conference is a good "kick in the pants" to keep improving the company's use of the ERP software.

"I always go back with a list of 20 improvement opportunities," he says.
