This multi-functional, dual frequency reader combines active and passive technologies in order to reduce the need for compatible tags to use power when they are nearby the reader and to ensure fast and highly reliable data communication. The reader can manually scan and program individual tags which enable users to identify a particular tag and change its information according to specific requirements. It is an ideal solution for the localization and tracking of merchandise, inventory or other assets.
This portable RFID reader, model 214031, also has an optional barcode scanner for users to transit old barcode systems to newer RFID systems. Users are able to scan a barcode label and write the information to the RFID tag. The well-designed reader offers RS232 and USB Host / Client ports for data transmission with a host computer. All communication packets use parity bits and cyclic redundancy checks to ensure data integrity. Product testing indicates that the highly rugged active reader works effectively even after being dropped from a height of 1.2m to a concrete floor. The active RFID reader is equipped with a 3.8in color TFT with a touch panel for ease of use. All of these capabilities make the reader an ideal tool for asset tracking.
