Herndon, VA -- (SBWire) -- 01/19/2010 -- A smoke house Creek Window that was originally crafted by the tribal hands of the Muscogee or Creek was photographed and inspected by window expert Scott Thompson. Scott is a historical window preservationist and enthusiast; a Super Window Expert and one of the principles of AAA Quality Home Improvements.

"Getting a glimpse into past construction techniques from over 100 years ago provides insight into modern window construction, which is critical when evaluating construction design challenges. It is remarkable that Creek windows had the same contemporary finger joined locking system as those hand made through out the 1950 and 1960s." states Scott Thompson

There has not been a lot of advancements between the traditional wood window that was manufactured in the 1950 and 1960 and those that were manufactured back in the mid to late 1800. It is clear that the design of the Creek Windows clearly, obviously originated from Spain. "Which only makes sense" says Scott Thompson, "simple two and one finger joints were made by hand, planing the edges or the center-cut, depending on the design, a channel was then carved to secure the glass in place, and finally hide glue was used to affix the corners together with the glass in place creating a glass pane-frame. Creating one pane of glass framed within a wooden sash, which was then set into the window frame took about 2-3 hours to manufacture. This very same technique originated in from Europe and was brought here by the original Spanish settlers."

Scott Thompson has been a window installer and regionally recognized expert for over 15 years. He has been interviewed by every major newspaper within the Washington D.C., Virginia and Maryland region. He is at his best when working with home owners who are looking to replace their siding, windows or doors.
