Tiger Woods in Us Open Next: Betting Odds, Predictions

Gurgaon, Haryana -- (SBWire) -- 04/20/2010 -- IN the latest news regarding golfer Tiger Woods, the top ranked golfer who got a joint fourth place in the Masters 2010, will next compete in the US Open. The United States Golf association has confirmed that they recieved Woods' entry form for the tournament.

Though Tiger Woods had not given any information about where would he play after the Masters Tournament 2010, at the Augusta National grounds, the USGA had earlier speculated that he would next play the US Open. The tournament, which the year's second major tournament, will be played at Pebble Beach in June.

Mike Davis, USGA senior director of rules and competitions said, "If someone fully exempt files an entry, generally speaking, they always do play."

The US Open has been a good tournament for Tiger Woods, who won it when it was last held on Pebble Beach, 10 years ago. He had won the tournament in 2000 by 15 shots. He had also been the only golfer in the tournament who had been able to break par by the end of the week, finishing 12-under par.

Ever since reports of Tiger Woods entering the US Open emerged, betting odds and predictions have placed the golfer as the favorite to win the tournament, even above Phil Mickelson, who had won the Masters Tournament 2010. The Betting odds have placed Tiger Woods as the prime favorite, followed by Phil Mickelson. Considerable odds are against Ernie Els, who is placed third on the list, followed by Lee Westwood and Padraig Harrington.

Tiger Woods has returned to professional golf with the Masters Tournament 2010, after he took a five month break from the sports after the affairs scandal broke out. With his entry into the US Open, fellow golfer Coreyt Pavin, the American Ryder Cup captain believes that the player could als0o make the team for the Ryder Cup tournament.
