College Park, MD -- (SBWire) -- 04/17/2015 --Having lost a loved one to disease, David Hoffman is always looking to honor that person by doing meaningful things. This is the primary background of David's current venture where he is leading a team of LabTV filmmakers that are headed to the University of Maryland, College Park. Apart from being the Executive Producer of LabTV, David is also an Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker.

David Hoffman strongly believes that "if you can't see it, you can't be it," and the medical scientists at the University of Maryland, who have dedicated their lives to research of different diseases, are doing all of their work behind closed doors. Therefore, the career of medical research is seemingly out of reach for America's best and brightest. This is undoubtedly a terrible loss to the entire nation. David Hoffman's objective is to shine a spotlight on these talented, young medical scientists.

The LabTV crew has been filming and interviewing young medical scientists in different institutions and universities across America, and have over 400 medical scientists filmed to date. Now, they are ready to start making mini-documentaries about the young medical researchers at the University of Maryland. These mini-documentaries will be four to seven minute long interviews with a medical scientist. By helping more students discover and engage with a medical researcher they can relate to this project will surely inspire them to consider medical research as a career option.

The mini-documentaries will be a part of a much larger initiative called the Feature Portfolio. Other than a mini-documentary, a feature portfolio will comprise of a magazine article, a public Q&A, and a personal profile. The feature portfolio of each featured scientists will be available on LabTV's website, http://www.LabTV.com

LabTV.com offers a series of tools to help students discover and engage researchers just like themselves. These tools include a Personal Search Engine, periodic updates from the scientists about life in the lab, and a private email system that allows students to communicate with the scientists.

David Hoffman is currently seeking donations and sponsorships through Kickstarter to meet his expenses for this project. His Kickstarter funding goal for this project is $2,000, but will continue to film additional scientists if the funding exceeds the goal.
