Chicago, IL -- (SBWire) -- 05/11/2015 --TwiceBorn was filmed in Chicago and produced by Robert Riley, directed by Matthew Byori Mann, filmed by Christopher Gearhart and lead by Blaise Nally. Lakeview Productions, out of Chicago IL, is the core production house on the project. The production team heads to the 2015 Cannes Film Festival to feature their independent short film.
In TwiceBorn, Special Officer, Michael Phoenix, is caught in a war between humans and vampires when he uncovers a conspiracy that forces him to question which side to support. In the film, Michael Phoenix is a rookie member of a special human task force, designated NITEs, that polices areas called Hunting Zones.
These Hunting Zones are sections of horrific poverty where the leaders of humanity have agreed to allow vampires to hunt free and clear of interference. On Michael's first patrol, a faction of young vampires ambush him and his fellow NITES. Michael and his superior officer flee the ambush and hide in an abandoned house within the Hunting Zone. Michael tries to keep the situation under control, but the vampires close in on him shortly after Sarge dies right before his eyes.
Battered and desperate, Michael faces Rainyn, a young vampire with a freedom fighter manifesto. Their introduction is cut short by the return of Sarge, who has become something completely different than anything they have seen before… a mindless beast that is neither human nor vampire.
The production team of TwiceBorn wants to attract the attention of potential investors and studios to develop a TV series. They have submitted to a variety of large, well established short film festivals as well as those designed specifically for fantastical and horror genres. They have also entered into independent pilot competitions and are hoping to gain traction towards developing their full television series.
