Humble, TX -- (SBWire) -- 11/11/2015 --In an effort to add further comfort and convenience to its already exceptional customer care, Texas State Optical in Humble, TX has recently revealed their addition of the latest technology for the early detection and treatment of common eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy known as Optical Coherence Tomography, or just simply OCT. OCT is a non-invasive imaging test that relies on light waves to capture cross-section images of a patient's retina, the light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye, and which can sometimes begin to deteriorate or show other signs of disease or disorder which can then be detected and treated earlier.

On the functions and advantages that make this new technology an ideal addition to the practice, Dr. Simon Yeung of Texas State Optical comments, "Among the most important advantages of OCT technology is that each and every one of the retina's distinctive layers can be seen and analyzed, allowing for proper mapping and measuring of their thickness. This helps with early detection, diagnosis and treatment guidance for retinal diseases and conditions. The OCT makes it much easier to find issues that otherwise may have been missed during an eye exam with earlier technologies."

Dr. Yeung also adds, "Our patients find this addition exciting because they have always held us to a high standard, and they expect us to provide them with the best care possible at all times. Keeping up with this and all of the latest technology in our field reinforces the message that we take our patients' eyecare needs very seriously."

About the new OCT technology
The new OCT technology allows early warning, diagnosis and treatment for glaucoma, age related macular degeneration, macular pucker, macular edema, central serous retinopathy, diabetic retinopathy, and many other eye conditions which may otherwise result in severe loss of vision, or even blindness.

According to Dr. Yeung, the patient experience with the OCT is quick and painless. It is completely non-invasive and does not use a bright light. The scan is very fast, taking only a few seconds to complete. The end result is a convenient, comfortable patient experience that produces the best readouts and analysis for superior overall eye care.
