UK Asylum Refusal for Refugee Children

London, England -- (SBWire) -- 05/24/2016 --The UK Conservative government has come under fire from critics and activists in an update to the UK Immigration Bill, stating that just 600 Syrian refugee children should be accepted into the UK over the next five years.

The amendment has outraged ministers who claim that many children will be put at risk of being separated and possibly at risk of trafficking by attempting dangerous crossings to Europe. The Government claims that enough is being done to assist with the crisis in Europe with the provision of humanitarian aid; however, ministers claim it simply isn't enough.

David Cameron in January of this year claimed that 3,000 children deemed at risk in refugee camps would be allowed into Britain, however only a small number of these have thus far been allowed entry. Those deemed to be illegally entering the UK will face up to six months imprisonment and companies will face strict closures or license removals should they be found to employ people without the proper documentation.

Under the 2014 Dublin agreement, the Home Office has granted asylum to 20 unaccompanied children whilst at the same time it has deported 740 people since the regulations came into power.

A spokesperson for Garth Coates Solicitors commented "The situation we are facing with regards to displaced children is absolutely dire. Direct and adequate action needs to be taken to ensure the safety of these children and to prevent them from coming to harm."
