Apple Introduces Special Edition Red iPhone 7 and 7 Plus to Celebrate 10 Years' Partnership with RED

To commemorate its over 10 years’ business relationship with RED, Apple introduced a red version of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.

 

Shenzhen, Guangdong -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/22/2017 -- Apple Inc introduced a special edition of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 to mark its decade long partnership with RED, a brand that raises people's awareness and funds to help fight HIV/HIDS. The color of this special edition is red, which expands the colors available for Apple's newest smartphone to six kinds (silver, gold, rose gold, black, jet black, and the new red).

"Since we began working with (RED) 10 years ago, our customers have made a significant impact in fighting the spread of AIDS through the purchase of our products, from the original iPod nano (Product) RED Special Edition all the way to today's lineup of Beats products and accessories for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch," Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a press release. "The introduction of this special edition iPhone in a gorgeous red finish is our biggest (Product) RED offering to date in celebration of our partnership with (RED), and we can't wait to get it into customers' hands."

In the press release, (Product) RED CEO Deborah Dugan said Apple is the world's largest corporate donor to the Global Fund. The tech giant has contributed more than $130 million throughout the over 10 years' partnership with (Product) RED.

Featuring a vibrant red matte-aluminum body, the special-edition iPhone will be available for ordering online worldwide and in physical stores starting from March 24, this Friday. The smartphones will come in 128GB and 256GB models, starting at $749.

Alongside the introduction of red version of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Apple Inc also unveiled a new 9.7-inch iPad with a brighter Retina display on Tuesday. The 32GB model starts at $329, making it the company's most inexpensive iPad to date.
