During the three-hour Intergalactic Adventure session, participants split up into separate groups and are given their mission: the enemy is coming to destroy the planet, and the only way to stop them is to work together to destroy their communication satellites. Over the course of twenty "days" (increments of five to eight minute rounds), teams decide what to do with their resources in order to accomplish their common goal.
Throughout the activity, team members will experience a profound change in their interactions amongst themselves. During the first eight "days," teams typically think only of conserving their resources. On days nine through fifteen, teams begin to engage in conditional teamwork with each other and, during the last phase, the separate teams begin thinking as one. The final debriefing will educate participants about their skills in communication and teamwork.
