Brandon, MB -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/01/2019 -- SuperCalc was a spreadsheet program formed in the early 1980s by a company called Sorcim and designed by Gary Balleisen.
Spreadsheet software was the application that most launched corporate evolutionism in PCs during the 1980s. VisiCalc, Lotus 1-2-3, SuperCalc and, later, Microsoft Excel and Borland's Quattro Pro—were made their name in the market placing sophisticated tools when it came to spreadsheets.
SuperCalc, in many ways, was more advanced than VisiCalc, particularly when it came to performing the iterative solving of spreadsheet cells that depend on each other's results. SuperCalc was one of the first spreadsheet programs that were able to solve circular references. It was only after 10 years after this, that Microsoft Excel introduced the feature. Manual programming of Lotus 1-2-3 was also used in solving this issue.
Different versions of SuperCalc were later released for MS-DOS in the mid-1980s, for Microsoft Windows. By 1987, the program had claimed a million users.
Converting files with SuperCalc is simply done by exporting the SuperCalc workbook in Lotus 1-2-3 format and then importing it into Excel. You can also try the conversion using an older version of Excel and loading the converted Excel file into a newer version of Excel.
