The investigation by a law firm focuses on possible claims on behalf of purchasers of the securities of Bayer Aktiengesellschaft (OTC: BAYRY) concerning whether a series of statements by Bayer Aktiengesellschaft (OTC: BAYRY regarding its business, its prospects and its operations were materially false and misleading at the time they were made.

Germany based Bayer Aktiengesellschaft operates as a life science company worldwide. In May 2016, Bayer offered to buy U.S. seeds company Monsanto for $62 billion

On August 15, 2018, the California Supreme Court denied a request by Bayer's subsidiary Monsanto Company for a review of a lower-court ruling that upheld California's authority to add glyphosate, the principal ingredient in Monsanto's "Roundup" herbicide product, to a list of known carcinogens published by the state pursuant to Proposition 65.

According to the investigation the inclusion of a chemical on California's Proposition 65 list prohibits businesses from discharging the chemical into sources of drinking water and requires them to warn members of the public who may be exposed to the product.

On August 17, 2018, a California cancer victim was awarded $289 Million in damages by a jury. The former school groundskeeper filed a lawsuit filed against Monsanto over its RoundUp. He reportedly took a job as a pest control manager for a Bay-area school district in 2012 and as part of his job was to spray the glyphosate-based weed killers made by Monsanto some 20 to 30 times a year, sometimes two to five hours a day. He reportedly said that he always wore his protective gear. However, after a hose came loose and the chemicals sprayed inside his suit, it was only few months after that he developed a rash that spread over his body. He reportedly said that the rash never went away and it got worse and worse. Doctors later diagnosed him with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. After attempts to reach the company he eventually filed a lawsuit in 2016. Bayer reportedly said the number of outstanding cases related to Monsanto's Roundup weedkiller had risen from 5,200 to 8,000 since the verdict.
